Music Video Pitch

Pitch

Feedback

Are there any areas of the presentation you would like to give any more detail on?

Throughout my presentation I feel I had went into as much detail as i possible could when talking about every slide. Although I did a good job in explaining what I wanted my music video to look like, it may not have been clear to my audience. I did ask my audience continually through my pitch to see whether they were on the same page as me and understood what I was trying to say, and they had responded by saying they did. Even though they had said they had understood what my idea was I would of wanted to be 100% sure they did by adding in examples from other music videos. This had become an issue when finding music videos which could relate and reflect y idea but it was difficult as my idea was very different and new to any other music videos thus making it hard to add in extra clips. Also timing would have become an issue as the pitch would of become boring and long winded if i made my audience watch clips.

What did your audience identify as the strengths of your music video idea?

The audience had agreed that my idea was original and different to the stereotypical generic idea of boy meets girl. They had thought this because my idea was from a different perspective, from the perspective of the other woman. This is a strength from my music video idea as it makes my video re watchable and more interesting, this was the main aim for my idea as I wanted to grab the attention of the viewers eyes by putting in something creative and exciting with a cliff hanger at the end. Although my idea can be controversial as its not something we would expect to see my audience was very keen on the idea as from my song and lyrics it was a good idea to put in narrative and performance conventions which is what i want to show through my idea. When being asked questions i feel that i had answered them satisfactorily clearing up any problems or issues they may have found whilst i was pitching my idea, which shows that I have thought of the issues previously. I was sure of who I wanted as my cast and the locations of my music video which will be vital when it comes to a shooting script in the future.

What did your audience identify as areas of improvements and what changed will you make to your music video concept based on feedback you received?

I was fortunate enough to receive pretty good feedback from my audience. However some people had some queries on how and what i will do for specific moments in my music video. A member of the audience had questioned on whether I would have someone lip syncing or whether I would have the song playing over my video, I had answered quite confidently and said that I would still keep the narrative element, how i would do this would be for example having a setting of a candlelit dinner with both the male and the "secret" at the table engaging quite intimately holding hands etc. The male will continue to engage and converse with the woman whilst the woman goes in and out of the conversation exchanging long looks at the camera whilst sings specific moments of the song. I had explained this quite well with the class as I had used class members as the man and woman in this scenario. Another question I was asked was about the software we will be using. I was under the assumption that we were using iMovie which is what i had said in my presentation but was corrected and told that we were in fact using final express cut. Being a newcomer to media studies i have not used this software before but have stressed that i am willing to put in the time and effort to learn the ins and outs of the programme.
