Production Log: Week 3

What have you contributed this week?

This week we had finally finished our shooting script. The completed script had come to 122 shots which had included a short intro to the music video. Before we came to our end of the shooting script we had ended on just 109 shots. The reason to why we had completed with 122 was because with the feedback we had from our teacher, we had to cut and add in certain areas in the music video to make it more clearer to the audience. Our initial idea consisted of the chorus being a mixture of narrative and performance styles. Our teacher advised us that we stuck to the original lay out of the music video which would be performance styles during the chorus and running narrative throughout the bridge and the verses. The advice we were given was really helpful and gave us a better understanding on what we wanted in our music video. After adding and taking out the changes we were pleased with the ending product of our music video and was then assigned to do some paperwork which will be needed before we were able to start filming. The paper work was begun during the lesson, because we were so tight with time and wanted to film as soon as possible me and Prinul had split the paperwork but still asked each other if they thought what we had written was okay to submit. We have currently done 2 out of the 6 documents. All documents will be completed by Wednesday 12th February.

How does this fit in with the production schedule/job roles/ overal ideas of the project?

Because the shooting script is now complete to a good standard we are now aware of what needs to be done when it comes to what locations and what we are going to do when at these locations. Job roles have already been assigned equally between me and Prinul and we have told our cast when and where we will need them in the upcoming weeks. The ideas in our project are running smoothly as we have fortunately been quite precise on what we want. There has been no time wasted talking for ages on what we want.

Were there any problems?

When listening to our feedback we felt like there will be an issue changing our ideas around in the shooting script. We feared that it may become abit confusing which would mean we would need to start from scratch. With careful consideration we were able to make the clean cut changes without having to start all over again. Other than that we have not come across any problems at all and are still working well as a team.

How did you/will you overcome them?

We had overcome the situation by sitting down together with a pen and paper discussing on what we needed to take out and put in enabling the shooting script run smoothly. The feedback we were given was vital as it will help us achieve a better grade.

What are the plans for the following week?
We will finish of any paperwork which needs to be done before shooting, we will also double check with the permission of shooting at certain locations such as the hotel. Once completed we will begin filming after school ours or at lunch times as our cast has other lessons to attend throughout the day.
